Two men from Western Sydney have been arrested after allegedly attempting to smuggle over 60 kilograms of heroin into Australia, with an estimated street value of $32 million. The pair, aged 27 and 25, were caught after arriving in Brisbane from China, where an X-ray examination of their luggage raised suspicions. Further searches revealed multiple blue satchels containing a white powder substance, which was hidden in the lining of wallets, pencil cases, and laptop bags. Presumptive testing confirmed the presence of heroin, and the total weight of the drug was 65 kilograms. The men, from Lethbridge Park and Taree, respectively, have been charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug. If found guilty, they could face life imprisonment.
