The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced significant developments in its temple expansion. The Bacolod Philippines Temple is set to open its doors to the public with a media day on April 13, 2026, followed by an open house from April 16 to May 2 (excluding Sundays). The temple dedication, presided over by Elder Neil L. Andersen, will take place on May 31, 2026, at 10 a.m., with a rebroadcast at 2 p.m. This temple, announced by President Russell M. Nelson in 2019, will be one of two dedicated in the Philippines in May 2026, alongside the Davao Philippines Temple. The Philippines currently boasts nearly 900,000 Latter-day Saints across 1,325 congregations. Other operating temples in the country include Cebu City, Manila, and Urdaneta, with construction underway in Alabang, Cagayan de Or, Davao, Tacloban, and announced in Iloilo, Laoag, Naga, San Jose del Monte, Santiago, and Tuguegarao City.
In other news, the San José California Temple has been renamed the Sunnyvale California Temple, set to be built on a 4.73-acre site in Sunnyvale, California. This temple will join the 12 already operating, under construction, or announced in California, including Bakersfield, Feather River, Fresno, Los Angeles, Modesto, Newport Beach, Oakland, Redlands, Sacramento, San Diego, and Yorba Linda.
Additionally, preliminary infrastructure work is set to begin on the eight-acre Church-owned property in Fairview, Texas, where a new temple will be constructed. The Church appreciates the Town of Fairview's cooperation in the permitting process for this project.
